The 2017 South African Hobie® Championships has started with a very impressive lineup of sailors. The current Hobie 16 world champion Daniel Bjornholt Christensen and with his brother Nicolaj are attending from Denmark, with current and former Hobie World Champions, Blaine Dodds, William Edwards, Shaun Ferry, Matthew Whitehead, and Douglas Edwards all competing. This is certainly a tough regatta. Off the water there is plenty of fun with a ‘Hobie Legends party.’ Surely there would be no exaggeration from the sailors. As we know time would not have made the stories better.

It is pleasing to see many of the large regattas are getting the information out early so the sailors can plan their holidays. Hobie 16 North American Championship 2018 will be sailed at Navarre Beach, Florida. The 2018 Hobie Multi-Europeans will be hosted Hornbaek,Denmark 20-28 July. The French have their Hobie Challenge. Over 11 host clubs are getting involved in the Challenge, both on the Atlantic and Mediterranean.
