The Hobie® Way of Life is the only life brother and sister Allie and Mike Morse know. They recently wrote in to tell us about Mike’s new four-legged Hobie 16 crewmate.

Allie: The puppy’s name is Kenzie Hobie. Her middle name is Hobie because my brother Mike Morse got her and the boat on the same weekend. This picture was his first time out with Kenzie on the boat. She loved it!

They are sailing on the Pamlico River near Bath, North Carolina. Our family has grown up going to the beach (Ocean Isle, Emerald Isle, and Topsail) every year during the summer and taking our sail boat with us.

My dad taught my brother how to sail on the ocean a few years ago and he takes it out on his own (or with anyone who wants to tag along) now when we go. My dad has been sailing Hobies for a long time and loves taking my cousins out when we go to the beach.

Mike: We’ve had a Hobie in our family for as long as I can remember. Our Uncle Trail introduced our family to the Hobie Way of Life 26 years ago – he took the picture at the top of me and Kenzie.

I crewed plenty growing up, but didn’t start captaining myself until my early 20s. We mainly used the boats on the beaches of North Carolina, so navigating the surf was a little tricky to learn at first.

About two months ago, we found a great guy selling a 2004 Worlds boat in Richmond and jumped on it.
