From the photo above you can see the conditions at the Hobie® World Cat event in Sylt, Germany. One team conquered the conditions and became the champions. Not too many boats could have handled the surf conditions. For the Hobie 16 it was a normal day off the beach.

The 2017 MultiWorlds and Europeans in Noordwijk, Netherlands is progressing and they have produced a video showing the site. The video does capture the beach and wonderful sailing conditions the sailors can expect. A schedule of the events will be released very soon with a Notice of Race following. It is full speed ahead at Noordwijk promising another spectacular Hobie event for all the sailors.

The North American Hobie 17 and US Sailing Multihull Championships (Hobie Alter Cup was this year sailing on the Hobie 18), started with no wind at Lake Carlyle and ended with no wind. In the middle was some great racing and sailing conditions. As always the Hobie sailors found ways to keep their competitive juices flowing with paddle board races when there was no wind.

In October for the first time the South African Hobie 16 Championships will be sailed on a lake. The question the racers are asking is how will the ocean sailors handle the lake conditions against the lake sailors? Time will tell if they can make the transition across to the lake conditions or if the lake sailors will prevail.

10-14 October is the North American Hobie 16 and 18 Championships in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. You can still enter to be part of the fun in Mexico.

The Notice of Race is released for the Americas Cup Endeavour Wave racing. The America’s Cup Endeavour Junior Hobie Wave Regatta will be held 20-26 June 2017, in Bermuda. The junior sailors will be part of the Americas Cup and train with some of the biggest names in sailing. All sailors need to be 15 years old or younger, in 2017, the year of the event and members of the Hobie Class Association. Each Hobie Wave sailing team shall consist of two males, or two females, or a mix of one male and one female. The goal is to have a 50/50 equal mix of males and females at the event. The website information about The Americas Cup Endeavour program. This is a fantastic opportunity for the junior sailors to be part of one of the biggest sailing stages in the world.
