Hobie Stand Up Paddle team riders Chuck Patterson and Bryce Saeman took home 1st and 3rd at the 23rd Santa Cruz Kayak Surf Festival over the past weekend. Battling some rather tricky tide, wind and surf conditions.  Chuck and Bryce managed to hold of the rest of the highly skilled elite stand up paddle field. With his first place finish Chuck continued his growing dominance as one of the world's premier stand up paddle surfers.

"It was super challenging conditions with with waves being really small on top of low tide and kelp, but it was really great to ride against some of the local santa cruz ledgends, such as Ward Coffey and John Griffith" said Patterson

According to event host Dennis Judson  " I want to officially thank all who had a part in this gathering-for it is a gathering of people who come to share in this magnificent appreciation of this energy space.  The addition of the Stand-up (SUP) group was not only another tribute to this paradigm but demonstrated what a beautiful dance with waves this sport represents.  I will take out my stand-up board with a new commitment born from the skills these surfers displayed.  SUP will be a permanent asset in all our events. "
